Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Sunny Mann and I am an experienced well-being coach, certified life coach, and certified meditation instructor. I am not your typical coach because I have completed my seven years of educational training with my Bachelors of Developmental Psychology from University of Pittsburgh and Masters in Counseling from a CACREP accredited program from Duquesne University. I decided to pursue this path because I am passionate about helping others achieve their personal developmental goals and feel that I am uniquely equipped to do so.
I have experience working as a well-being coach and meditation instructor as well as a staff psychotherapist in the mental health field. I had the honor to help international people across the globe with adjustment, transition, homesickness, and cultural issues. I have helped also people with issues including depression, anxiety, relationships, attachment issues, and family problems.
Work experience, guest and internship speaking engagements have included:
Duquesne University – Counseling Department
American Academy of Professional Coders
Schneider Downs
Awareness and Wellness Center
I was born in a rural village in the Punjab region of northern India. Shortly after my birth, my mother passed away. My father was an alcoholic and for the next 13 years I lived in a chaotic, abusive, and dysfunctional household. I witnessed and experienced abuse.
When I was 14, I was adopted by an American family. This brought me half-way around the world, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I didn’t know how to speak English, didn’t look like my peers and had no experience with Western culture and ways of life. My adoption came with its own set of challenges. I struggled with school, my identity, making friends, acceptance, belonging, and connection throughout my teens and as a young adult. I often felt lost, alienated and without a sense of purpose.
In my mid-20’s, I became chronically ill and was home-bound for five years. I was unable to work and do much of anything physical. I fell into depression as I lived in-and-out of hospitals managing a multitude of symptoms. Fortunately, I had (and still have) a loving and caring adoptive-mother who provided me with stability during this period. She helped me find and connect to resources. My healing journey began.
In the subsequent years I traveled the country making contact with healers in both the medical and non-medical fields. I worked with coaches and therapists. I read countless self-help books. But despite getting help and making some progress in the areas of physical health, mental health, and relationships, I would often fall back.
What I discovered was that no doctor, no friend, no relationship, no job, and no special book was going to heal me. These things can be tools and supports, but the power of healing ultimately lies in me. I have grown to practice self-love, understand my trauma and navigate its impact on attachments. Through this inner work, I was able to recognize and break free of toxic relationships that were not serving me and others.
I don’t want you to go through years of healers, self-help books, therapists, pain-filled relationships, inner turmoil, suffering, and hitting rock bottom before you realize and understand that healing is within you. I am a guide and coach to help you get closer to your inner truth where inner transformations will evolve to inner self-love. You are the sole director of this inner energy. It is only through this pure self-love, inner-knowing, insight, and compassion that you will be able to cultivate this journey with such grace, wisdom, and insight that you will unknowingly make this world a better place for yourself and all those you love and care for.
My personal story, passion and purpose for impacting others in a positive way, has helped shape my core values and business.
I believe clients have the innate capabilities to develop to their highest self which may be conscious or unconscious.
Your journey is a gradual process of transformation, not a quick and instant fix to life complexities. The focus is beyond learning techniques and tools but greater emphasis is placed on being and becoming.
It takes bravery to take ownership for your life. Courage allows clients to explore their desires and values. It also allows clients to confront their fears and insecurities while taking action toward their goals, even when it feels challenging and uncomfortable.
Clients have the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adversities. Given the appropriate resources and support, clients are able to navigate uncertainties with courage, adaptability, and perseverance.
